Hengqin Port sits right across from Cotai, and its Macau side is officially the Macao Port Zone of Hengqin Port. From there to the Cotai resorts takes about ten minutes. Coming in through the Border Gate instead means crossing the whole Peninsula and a bridge, which easily adds twenty or thirty minutes.
Hengqin uses joint inspection with one-stop clearance, which is quicker than the old process, and it is usually less crowded than the Border Gate. It also has vehicle lanes, so cross-border cars with dual plates can drive straight through.
If you are short of time or carrying large bags, Hengqin is usually the easier way in.
How the pickup works
Cross on foot at Hengqin Port, message us when you are through, and the driver meets you on the Macau side for the ten-minute run into Cotai.
Before you set off
- ◆Staying at a Cotai resort? Hengqin usually saves twenty to thirty minutes over the Border Gate.
- ◆Hengqin has vehicle lanes. If you want to stay in the car the whole way, ask about a cross-border car.
- ◆Late-night pickups are arranged as usual, and Hengqin is usually quieter than the Border Gate.
